...IN A WELCOMING MANNER
HOWLING MIND GLIDE
are a Montreal area band started in the year of our Lord nineteen
hundred and ninety one.
Back
then, the kids used to gather 'round the old music hole on warm summer
evenings, and eventually someone would come by with an old broken down
guitar, and
maybe a sack full of rocks that made interesting sounds. They
took the guitar and the sack of rocks and used them to beat the crap
out of someone with good equipment they could really use. Doc Williams
concocted up some medicine to fend off the lure of tv and
downtown bars, allowing the fellows to focus just long enough to start
compiling their own set of tunes, which they planned to play at the
next social gathering they could invade. At these picnics and whatnot,
the boys would thump through their fiery brand of sculpted noisemaking
for the true believers who had traveled from near and narrow to hear
for themselves. Once
everyone would had cleared out, the gang scrounged the area looking for
loose
change someone might have dropped, or perhaps used bottles that could
be returned to the local feedstore for 5 pennies a piece. Well, this continued for a mighty spell, and as time wore on the boys in the band grew older, courted some gals, and started farms of their own... ...but sometimes still, they say, when the evening is just right and the warm air blows in off the river, and at least seven days had passed, mayhap if you hang out around the old music hole, well sir - you might just see the shadows of four men gathering slowly in the dusk. And if you're extra lucky they might pick up a guitar and a rock sack, and if you're extra extra lucky they might not beat you with those, but rather put them down, pick up their instruments, and start playin' that sweet and oh so harsh music that has come to define this ragged crew... |

And oh ya and weehoo, we sometimes do shows, that's our version of shouting on the corner! HMG are currently finishing up the mixin and a'masterin of the latest hollow money god over at the Sound Module in beatiful downtown Montreal, Canada. Recorded at the mindglide media headquarters 502 in and during 2008, poked and prodded for a good long while as the lads' itinerary for the year was blown this way and that. The Soup Kitchen "vid", and even the revival of this website, were a minor distraction side project due to the twists of '08. At long last though we are in the final stages of mixing (as a side note, the versions you are currently hearing on this site and reverbnation were final pre-mixes - may 09). 20 first look rush copies were delivered to friends and sundry at the recent hmg / spunk gig in Vancouver. Release all official like and well past it's welcome will be summer 09....summer 09, ahhhh...yeaaah. Note that it ends with some kinda error. I can't be bothered trying to figure out what it's calling that isn't answering, and it don't matter none no how. It goes through the full flash move once, it's all you'll really need....
